Rigid Contact Lenses

Rigid contact lenses were made up of Polymethylmethacrylate or "PMMA”, a type of plastic. They were very durable and had excellent vision correction abilities. They became outdated due to two main reasons.Rigid contact lenses are very rigid and typically last two to three years of regular usage. Although due to the ease and comfort being offered by the more recently developed contact lenses, rigid or hard contact lenses are becoming obsolete.
